I have been loving MEGABASS in this 25 years. In 1990’s it was very difficult to obtain MEGABASS products in Japan. Their rods and lures stayed one step up from other makers in design, in moving. POP-X, GIANT DOG-X, VISION ONETEN, V-FLATS, X-80…..All of their masterpieces were born in 1990’s.
So many anglers rushed to buy when they found MEGABASS products in some shops. And then many fishing shops became "clever", like they only sold MEGABASS to good customers. Some shops sold by set with boring products of other makers. On internet auction MEGABASS products were selling by 2~5 times expensive than real price.
But in this decade, especially after 2010, we cannot see the shinning of MEGABASS from their products like before.
In 2000’s other makers could catch up the product level of MEGABASS and have started counterattacked to MEGABSS.
In the other hand, MEGABASS looked like to lose their originality or energy on products, which made this maker different from others.
In 2015 They did not opened the booth in Fishing Show in YOKOHAMA(TOKYO), and even in Fishing Show OSAKA the booth of this giant maker could not gathered many attendances like before. Only the time of giving present from the maker people rushed to this booth.
At there I often heard the rumor about MEGABASS. All of them is not happy rumor. I wish all rumors is not true and hope to come back to the main line of fishing scene in Japan.
