TOSHI'S BLOG: STORY ABOUT SHIMANO DC - NO.1

After coming to VN, I was a little bit surprised because many anglers does not know much about SHIMANO DC reels. Soon I could know why. SHIMANO does not release many model for US market and EU market. It is true that VN market has influenced much more than JDM (Japan Domestic Market).

In this moment SHIMANO has only 2 models for US and EU market. One is CALAIS DC, the other is CALCUTTA TE DC (EU name is CALUCATTA DC). And only 2~4 items for each. 200 & 201 for CALAIS DC, 100, 200, 201, 250 for CALCUTTA TE DC. 



 In the other hand, in JDM SHIMANO has released 7 models, around 30 items  totally.
  • 2003 ~ 05 Calcutta Conquest DC(5 items)
  • 2006 Antares DC/DC7/DC7LV (6 items)
  • 2008 Metanium Mg/Mg7 DC(4 items)
  • 2009 Cardiff DC (2 items)
  • 2010~11 Calcutta Conquest DC(6 items)
  • 2011 Scorpion DC/DC7(4 items)
  • 2012 Exsence DC(2 items)
And hopefully New Antares DC will release next year. I am a strong user of SHIMANO DC system. Now I am using 2004 Calcutta Conquest DC250, Antares DC7, Metanium DC7. And I used to use Scorpion DC7 for a few years.



Of course other reels has each own good points. But about casting, once we are accustomed to use DC system, most of anglers cannot change back to other system. But many anglers might feel the system and difference of SHIMANO DC is complicated. So I want to explain about DC a little bit  from today.
