Three are 6 kinds of DC in SHIMANO. 「DC」「4x8 i-DC」「i-DC4」「 DC＋」「 i-DC＋」「 i-DC＋EXSENCE TUNE」
I want to explain the difference of these 6 systems shortly. Today I am writing for first half.

"DC" - 2003Calcutta Conquest DC
This is the first DC system which SHIMANO set on Calcutta Conquest DC In 2003
Anglers only adjust the strangeness of brake by 8 steps with a dial of side-cover.

DC for 2003 Calcutta Conquest DC 250
"4x8 i-DC" - Antares DC/DC7

In this system anglers can adjust 4 modes and 8 steps of the strangeness of brake. So totally users can choose from 32 different ways to fit for the situation.
To change the strangeness of brake anglers can chose by dial which is mounted side-cover, but to choose the modes, angles have to open side-cover same like DC＋.

L mode = Long Distance. This mode fit for long distance cast but possibility of Back-rush is higher than other mode.
M mode = Middle distance. This mode fit for heavy lure like Vibration and sinking minnow.
A mode = All round. Usually anglers use this mode.W mode = Wind. In the situation of hard wind, which often make trouble to bait-casting reels, this mode can reduce Back-rush

4x8 i-DC for Antares DC

"i-DC4" - Metanium Mg DC/DC7, 2011Calcutta Conquest DC50.

This DC system has 4 modes. Dial adjuster is mounted side-cover of the reel, so very easy to choose the step.Very simple system and anglers feel automatic when use this system

i-L mode = Long Distance. This mode fit for long distance cast but possibility of Back-rush is higher than other mode.
i-M mode = Middle distance. This mode fit for heavy lure like Vibration and sinking minnow.
i-A mode = All round. Usually anglers use this mode.
i-W mode = Wind. In the situation of hard wind, which often make trouble to bait-casting reels, this mode can reduce Back-rush
