TOSHI'S BLOG: "SLOW FISHING" WITH HAND-MADE TACKLE

We had a chance to guide one Japanese angler for Barramundi fishing in South Vietnam. Mr. K is 48 years old. and has a lot of experienced to travel many countries for fishing, Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and some countries in Africa. But it was his first visit to Vietnam.

At my first glance to his tackles, to tell the truth I really worried for his fishing days in VN. Because he was carrying only hand-made except reels. His original rod is made by Glass fiber material so action is really dull and does not fit for long casting and hard fighting. His original lures have not moved quickly like professional-made.

As many knows Barramundi fishing is not easy to catch in nature. Sometimes our “weapon” becomes a key to catch fishes. Especially on those fishing days, we had a strong wind and muddy water because of influence from the storm. And the timing of tide was really worst…...

But all of these my worries were in vain. He could have a few natural Barramundis with his “slow” tackles.

Before starting fishing he said if I reach to the field and can do fishing with my favorite tackles, my fishing is success 90%. Fishes are extra present. Maybe His policy like this, has been making fishing life rich.
