" Calcutta Conquest DC does not fit for PE Line? " In 2003 Calcutta Conquest DC was released as the first model of DC series. Why DC system is evolutional for bait casting reel? The main purpose for DC system is to avoid Back-Rush, which is the major week point of bait-casting reels. Because of Back-Rush the bait-casting is treated as reels for experienced anglers. So we can say, DC system can make bait-casting reel near to beginners. And even for experienced anglers they can concentrate for fishing because the troubles can reduces by DC system when, casting. However if DC computer is programed for long casting,this system can show us the new record easily. Long distance record of 2006 Antares DC 2006 is 111m (a slight follow wind), but even 2013 model of Antares HG can remark 99m (no wind). And DC system can stabilize the posture of lures when flying. So the accuracy of casting becomes better as well.
In the other hand there are some week points for DC.
One is that DC reels cannot make spool light like normal reel, because this system have to set some electric parts for its spool. In the case like that we need a long casting with small lures very light spool is necessary.
In Japan now it is popular to use small lure by bait-casting as we call " Bait-Finesse". SHIMANO has Aldebaran series for this field but the maker has not bring DC system yet. Now SHIMANO is trying to reduce this demerit by changing the program of computer. But there is a strong rumor which in next year SHIMANO will release 2015 Aldebaran DC.
And another big problem about DC is ………….the price. The retail price of normal Calcutta Conquest 200 is around around $570 in Japan, but Calcutta Conquest DC 200 is around $800.
As the same as another field of competing, Dc of SHIMANO has also developing day by day, year by year. Among DC series there is only one model renewed.
How does Calcutta Conquest DC change when it is renewed in 2009~2011? Lightness of spool, durability of Bearings, strangeness of main gear….every parts is refined, About DC system at first the speed of calculation of computer is increased, from 1/1000 every second of previous DC to 1/2000 every second of new DC. Then DC system evolved to DC＋ for 100/200 series, i-DC4 for 50 series. Previous DC, anglers only can adjust the strangeness of brake by 8 steps. But in DC＋ anglers can adjust 3 modes and 8 steps of the strangeness of brake. 3 modes are N mode for nylon line, F mode for fluorocarbon line. And we have to be careful when use SP mode.About 100 series if we set SP mode DC system fit for small lures. But about 20 series if we set SP mode DC system fit for big lures.
SHIMANO changes the setting of DC along with the character of each reels. And about i-DC4 of 50 series, we can choose 4 modes.
L mode for Long Distance, M mode for Middle distance, A mode for All round situation,W mode for Windy day.
Anyway SHIMANO mainly developed this reel for Black Bass fishing in Japan. So the maker does not suppose to use PE Line for this Calcutta Conquest series, because in Japan we rarely use PE Line for Black Bass fishing.
Of course we can not say this reel can not use PE Line, but from the point of program on computer this reel does not match best for PE Line. For PE Line usage, SHIMANO released another a few models.
